Veganism FAQ

  • Why are you vegan? Explained here
  • Protein?!?! There are plenty of vegan protein sources. This list includes Tofu, tempeh and soybeans, beans, lentils, nutritional yeast, seitan and tons of others. Many items that fall into the “carbohydrate” or “fats” category also contain a substantial amount of protein such as quinoa, amaranth or nuts.
  • Vitamin B12?!?! I supplement it
  • Don’t you like…. Eat salads all day? No – I hardly ever eat salads.
  • Is all vegan food healthy? No. You can still eat like garbage on a vegan diet.
  • Isn’t vegan food like… Weird? If french fries, falafel, rice and beans, hummus, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, oatmeal, cereals, bagels, Oreos, pretzels, airheads etc is weird, than sure.
  • Vegans can’t get strong / stronger! False. Myself and hundreds of others have proved that to be incorrect.
  • I had a friend who almost DIED going vegan!!!! Um ok, I don’t know why this one comes up a lot but I’d love to have an exact outline of their diet.
  • Do you feel better now that you’re vegan? Going vegan made me realize I have a slight lactose intolerance, other than that I feel the same. I do have a greater sense of moral superiority now though. <-Joking
  • Do you encourage clients to go vegan? No, but I am more than happy to help people transition to a vegan or vegetarian diet if they so choose.
  • Would you like to see more people go vegan? Of course, but I am also an advocate for people incorporating an extra vegan meal or two a week into their diet.
  • Should I go vegan? Sure, give it a whirl.
  • Plants feel pain!!11!1!!!! No.
  • Soy gives you BOOBS! No. “Results of recent population studies suggest that soy has either a beneficial or neutral effect on various health conditions. Soy is a nutrient-dense source of protein that can safely be consumed several times a week, and is likely to provide health benefits—especially when eaten as an alternative to red and processed meat. ” – https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/soy/
  • If you were trapped on a desert island and there was NOTHING to eat but… Yes, I would eat an animal if it meant ensuring my own survival if there was no other alternatives.
  • But we have INCISORS! Again, weird argument. I’d love to see you tackle a full grown deer and rip it apart with your predetatory incisors. Additionally just because we have needed to be omnivorous in the past, doesn’t mean we need to continue.
  • BUT BACON! Ok. Fun fact, processed meats are labeled as a carcinogen by the World Health Organization.
